Helpful Tips on Shaving:
- Shaving is the quickest, easiest and most convenient technique for removing hair from legs and arm pits.
- Shaving can most conveniently be done at the time of bath or shower.
- Make your skin wet first. This makes it easier to shave. You may or may not choose to apply shaving gel. If the skin is wet, shaving without gel works just fine.
- The most important thing to remember is to shave in the direction opposite to hair growth.
- So for legs, you will start from ankle and move up till the knees. Then do the knees before proceeding from just above the knee to the thighs.
- For arm pits, you can move in any direction but remember to then move opposite to the direction you just moved. Try to keep the skin a little stretched out for better results.
- Observe care when shaving to avoid cuts and bruises. Make sure the blade is nice and sharp. More cuts and bruises are caused when the blade is blunt. A blunt edge does not do a good job and then there is a tendency to apply more pressure trying to remove the hair left out and that is when the cuts happen. Apply mild uniform pressure while gently moving the blade.
- Although there are many special blades available for women but the blades like Gillette that men use work great.
- Remember, not to share a blade with anyone to prevent any infection.
- You may experience some itching or burning sensation for the first few times of shaving. After shaving and shower, apply a generous supply of good cream like Curel and massage it in the skin while the skin is moist. This will prevent the itchiness and the burning sensation if any. Do not jump into the swimming pool or the beach immediately after shaving, else the chemicals will cause burning and discomfort. Allow a few hours to elapse.
- Initially, you might feel that because of shaving, the hair is growing back faster. But if you continue shaving in the direction opposite to the hair growth, after a couple of years, the hair growth reduces so significantly that one does not even need to shave so frequently any more.
