Secret to Long Life |
What is the best way to lose weight - diet or exercise? We have all heard and some may have tried the Atkins’ diet or the South Beach diet or the Zone Diet, or some other diet. However, how many people have experienced that as soon as you get off the diet, the weight comes right back on faster than the time it took you to lose it? I know of quite some people who experienced rapid weight gain when they discontinued the diet they were following and came back to their regular food. In my opinion, Dieting is not the right way to lose weight for the following reasons:
- It is not the permanent solution.
- It may not be the healthy solution if you are compromising on the amount of proteins or the carbohydrates you ingest.
- It is hard to imagine staying on the diet permanently for the rest of our lives.
- Most people put the weight right back on as soon as they
get off the strict diet.
- Food and eating should be enjoyable and fun and it cannot be enjoyable if we are worried all the time about the amount of carbs or proteins, etc.
- Being on a diet does not mean you are getting fit or healthy.
So then, what is the right way? REGULAR EXERCISE and SMART EATING is the key to weight loss and becoming fit and healthy. Exercise is the correct way to go about losing those extra pounds and to achieving fitness. Our body is like a machine. Like all machinery needs maintenance, lubrication and care, so does this most sophisticated machine, our body. EXERCISE is the answer.
Exercise does not need to be strenuous or intense; it can be as simple as taking a brisk walk but what is important is you must do it regularly. We have to preserve "muscles" and not let the muscle tissue reduce with age. Exercise will help to preserve and develop muscle tissue.
My advice as regards dieting is this: Instead of dieting, you have to eat smartly. Look at our pages on Food Tips, you will learn some very simple but highly effective tips on eating. Adopting those is much easier, cost effective and beneficial than going on a Diet Plan. The simple practice of smart eating combined with our regular exercise will produce miraculous results.
Adopt regular exercise as a healthy addiction!
