Hamstring Stretch Exercise
Hamstring Stretch - Right Leg
Part (A)- (a) Stand with your feet about 3 – 4 feet (depending on your height) apart.
- (b) Turn your body towards Right side by turning on your toes such that the feet are parallel to each other after turning.
- (c) While keeping the Left leg straight and stretched, flex (not bend) at the Right hip so as to shift the body weight to the front Right knee bending it.
- (d) With the palm of Left hand resting on the palm of the Right hand, lay your hands on the bent Right knee.
- (e) Your torso should be straight.
- (f) You should feel the hamstring in your Left leg getting
stretched.
- (g) Stay in this position for a minute.
Part (B)
- (h) You are in the position of the last step in part (A). This is your starting position for this step. With the steps described below, you will shift the body weight to the Left leg
- (i) Now straighten the Right leg. Heel of the Right foot will rest on the floor, Right foot and toes will be at an angle to the ground.
- (j) Flex at the hip so as to shift the body weight to the Left leg, bending the Left knee.
- (k) Palms and hands continue to be in the same position.
- (l) Your Left foot will be resting on the floor with the Left knee bent.
- (m) Your torso should be straight.
- (n) You should feel the hamstring in your Right leg getting stretched.
- (o) Stay in this position for 30 seconds.
- (p) End by standing straight with feet apart as in position (a).
