Power of Meditation



Take a minute to reflect upon yourself!
  • Do you meditate?


  • Have you ever tried meditating and felt it was hard?


Suggestion:

    • Tips on setting the environment.
      • Choose a quiet, fresh, clean, uncluttered spot.


      • Let some incense burn. I like to let the incense burn while I meditate. The fragrance of the incense purifies the atmosphere and automatically helps to enhance my meditation.


      • Be in a comfortable position, sitting on the chair or floor or grass, standing, cross-legged Yoga position. Lay your hands in your lap. Maintain an upright spine. Position yourself such that you are totally at ease and comfort. Remember, comfortable posture is very important or the discomfort will keep distracting you.


      • When you start meditation initially, try in a quiet


        place. Once you have progressed in meditation, it will not matter and you will be able to isolate your mind anywhere but in the initial phases while you are still training yourself, it will help to be in quiet zone.


    • Having set the right environment, now get ready to shut out all the thoughts from the mind. Here are two simple ways to meditate:
      • One way to do this is to focus on your breathing. Feel the cycle of inhale and exhale. Be conscious of how the air is going in and how it is going out. It is incredible how just this simple technique of focusing on breath rejuvenates the body and mind.


      • Another way is to put a dark blue or black spot on a piece of white blank paper, stick it to the wall at a distance of about 3 feet from you. Now, keep looking at the dark spot till it blends in and you no longer see the spot. It may not come that easy but anyway this will help keep you concentrated and shut out any other thoughts.

    • Adopt either of the two ways of meditation described above for about 10 minutes in a day to start with. You can gradually increase to an optimal 20 minutes. Use a timer, you can set the time you wish to meditate for, on say a kitchen timer, so that while meditating you do not have to worry about how much time. Experience and enjoy the wonder!
